OUR PROCESS
“The house is nearing on completion, but I couldn’t wait to tell you that it looks AMAZING! What a spectacular transformation. It’s nice to love my house again.” – Melissa
We start by listening
What have you got in mind? That’ll be the first question we ask. The first of many. From there, we’ll go step by step: Think through the possibilities. Sketch out options. Define a budget range. And then get into the nitty-gritty of CAD drawings, project planning and scheduling, and all the rest.
STEP 1 – LEAD PHASE
During this phase one of our project planners will visit your home to review your project in person. They will work with you to develop a scope of work, establish a ballpark budget for your investment and discuss a potential timeline. Initial measurements and photos are taken as this time.
STEP 2 – SCHEMATIC DESIGN
Next your project planner and designer will collaborate to develop draft drawings and specifications. These will be reviewed in our office during a “Design/Budget” meeting where we will look together at 3D views of your project and provide a more detailed estimate. When changes are required, additional meetings may take place.
STEP 3 – DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
During this phase we will guide you toward making selections of materials with our many trusted venders. As you progress through this phase, we will be updating your drawings, specifications and budget to reflect your decisions. This is also where we will begin gathering quotes from our subcontractors and request a material deposit to secure items with long lead times, such as cabinetry and windows/doors.
STEP 4 – CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
By this stage, most of your hard work should be completed. It is now up to the team at Common Vision to assemble final construction drawings, obtain any necessary permits, refine pricing and prepare a contract. We will also coordinate an orientation meeting at your home with our project planner, our project manager and you to review the job and begin the handoff process to our field crew.
STEP 5 – JOB START-UP
This is the last phase before construction. During this phase we will coordinate a “Pre-Construction” meeting at your home with the project manager and the lead carpenter, who will be running the construction work. This is an official hand-off to our production team and will include finalized drawings, specifications and a contract to begin the construction phase.
STEP 6 – CONSTRUCTION
Your job is now in production. From this point on, your primary point of contact will be the lead carpenter, however you may reach out to the office any time if you have questions or concerns that we may be better able to assist with.
