Testimonials

From the many letters of thanks we receive:

Common Vision just built us a new kitchen drawer to replace the original one they installed during a remodeling project 23 years ago. The original one broke, and they stood by their product 100%. In addition, they did this in a very timely way. They are nothing but highly professional!

-Judy, Hamden

We are just so happy with the kitchen, sun room, etc… Donny is a master!

– Maggie and Carl

Natalie and I want to particularly commend Tim Keyes, who not only demonstrated superb skill as a carpenter and job boss, but showed remarkable patience and good humor throughout what had to be a difficult balancing act between the many trades involved (let alone the owners).

Many thanks to all involved.

– Sam, Hamden

I wanted to let you know how much we are enjoying our remodeled kitchen, bath and family room. They are beautiful and we have received many compliments. It was a pleasure working with you and Tim and we especially appreciate your attention to detail and excellent design suggestions. By the way, our “cat palace” works – our son left his two cats with us for a couple of weeks during his move recently, and those cats new exactly what to do! In due course we will acquire a cat of our own.

I will be delighted to recommend Common Vision to your prospective clients.

– Veronica, Guilford

The house is teetering on completion, but I couldn’t wait to tell you that it looks AMAZING! What a spectacular transformation. It’s nice to love my house again.

Have a great day!

– Melissa, Guilford

Thank you for a truly wonderful renovation experience. Your people are the best. It was a pleasure.

– Harvey, North Haven

The Common Vision response to our closet shelf and rod falling was truly remarkable. We felt we might be stuck with piles of clothes in every room for a very long time, but Don’s instant response was phenomenal. I think he came that very afternoon on his way home from work, and then followed up the next two weekend days to make it a perfectly completed job. He repositioned the supports to actually attach to studs (the other company had not cared about such a detail). He completed it to perfection.

Common Vision really came through and we do wish we had a larger project for you, but thank you for doing a small one.

– Letty, North Haven

Carl and I want to thank everyone at CV for their work on our house. From the design through the execution to the final finishing touches everything was done so thoroughly and so well. And it was done on time despite Hurricane Irene and an eight day blackout. Amazing!

Bruce and Milton were so professional and such a pleasure to have around. In fact, the place felt a little empty after they left. I have been raving about them to anyone who asks about our renovation.

We are so pleased with the final results! We look forward to spending many years enjoying the new addition.

– Grace, Guilford

Your bill of June 15 has arrived, which asks us to pay $0.00 for the repair of the fence damaged by falling ice this winter.

Your generosity is very kind.

Certainly we don’t hold Common Vision responsible for this winter’s excesses.

You may be sure that when something more challenging than “reinstalling existing pieces” needs to be done at our house you are the man we’ll call. John and I hope that Common Vision will be the outfit that rises to that occasion, as has often in the past. We love this house. It turns 100 next year. It seems happy to be a century old and still this lovely – and functional. Thank you for taking good care of it and gently, imaginatively adapting it to present needs.

– Toni, New Haven

We wanted to send you a note to thank you for the fantastic work that Common Vision did building out our basement and relocating our laundry. While we expected that you would do a first-rate job, the project came out even better than we could have imagined. On top of that, it was on budget and completed on schedule.

From our initial meetings with you to the design process to the actual construction, everyone at Common Vision was committed to doing the highest-quality work, while also being as minimally disruptive as possible.

We would like to especially commend Bruce and Milton, who went above and beyond in terms of ensuring both the quality of the final product and making this process as easy as possible for us and our young son. At this point, they feel like members of the family.

Should the occasion arise, we would be more than happy to speak to potential Common Vision clients about our experience. We also look forward to working with you again as we gradually implement the “master plan” for our home.

– Steve and Derrick, New Haven

Thank you Tim for our wonderful bathrooms. They are better than we even dreamed. It was a pleasure working with you and your Common Vision colleagues. You are a fantastic team and we consider ourselves lucky to have had you work on our bathroom project.

– Melissa and Tim, Guilford

Our kitchen is beyond our expectations! Thank you to all who were involved in the project, especially Barbara and you for your vision, Cy for his expertise and of course Carl (especially for his patience). It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Common Vision. I look forward to many years of enjoyment in our new space.

– Susan and Mark, North Haven

Many thanks for all your crew’s efforts with our house – the latest of many. We know we were really lucky we started working with you when we bought the house 20+ years ago. With your help we’ve been able to make it work effectively for us as our family has grown and changed.

– Ann and Greg, Hamden

I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know how pleased we are with the final outcome. Our kitchen is absolutely beautiful, everything we were hoping for. The entire experience with Common Vision was very positive.

We would like to thank the entire Common Vision team for your hard work on our kitchen. From the initial planning stages with Steve, to the selection choices with Barbara to the oversight by Cy, the whole process was positive and smooth. We would like to most especially acknowledge Al Rockel. Al, as the lead carpenter, could not have been more professional or done a better job. His attention to detail was extraordinary, and his work is beautiful. He listened to every concern we had and was sure to get us an answer quickly. He was in constant communication about the progress of the project, and we never felt like we were unsure of where the project stood. He was always punctual and worked hard to keep our project on schedule. We cannot say enough about how wonderful he was to work with.

Again, we are very pleased with our experience with Common Vision, and we will be recommending you to friends and calling you for any future projects we have.

– Pete and Nancy, Cheshire

I can’t tell you how pleased we are with the new floor. And not a little of our pleasure comes from the integrity it symbolizes. Working with Common Vision has been more than a business transaction from the beginning. It has been a valued human experience, for which we are grateful.

– Ed, New Haven

“I continue to be awestruck by the beauty and elegance of my home as reflected in the quality and craftsmanship of the work of Common Vision.

The lead carpenter brought to this project his skill, experience, design sense, insight (he seemed to share my dream), and professionalism. He succeeded in restoring this house to a grandeur greater than I had envisioned, demonstrating along the way a respect for the house and its tradition.”

A job so very well done!

– Vickie, New Haven

My husband and I want to thank you for the fabulous kitchen renovation. It’s such a joy to live and cook in!

We know that without your planning and vision, the whole project would never have happened. We appreciated the competent attention to the whole process – we are grateful for the reassuring presence of Common Vision when we were feeling doubtful.

Our special thanks go to Rit the lead carpenter for his unending patience and for his craftsmanship.

– Jean, Orange

Again, you guys did an excellent job. Our kitchen is so beautiful I want to stay in it all day long!

– Elsa, New Haven

I have said (I hope not too often) to you and am now writing it, that Common Vision did such a wonderful job redoing my kitchen. It is so lovely and admired by all.

I appreciated not only the craftsmanship but also the helpful planning and ideas, attention to detail, flexibility, responsiveness to what I wanted, and good humor which everyone connected with your outfit consistently exhibited, in particular, you, Cy Alex and Tim. As a former administrator, I was very aware of your team approach.

– Katie, Hamden

Thanks for the great work you’ve done for us here in New Haven over the years. We’ll really miss not having Common Vision available to call on when we move to Princeton next month.

– Cathie, New Haven

Just a short note to thank you for the terrific job you did on our kitchen / family room remodeling. The quality of your workmanship was excellent, and we wound up with a much more attractive space.

Even though it ended up being a bigger job than I had anticipated, the end result was worth the added expense. The two rooms, opened to flow into each other, are working out very well, and Doss is no longer isolated in the kitchen alone!

Again, our great thanks to you and all the others who worked on this job. You have two very happy customers here!

– Bill, Branford

Thanks for a great kitchen job. Special thanks to Bruce, he was terrific in all phases of the job.

– Tom, Hamden

A TRIBUTE

As the dust settles, the paint dries, and chaos returns to normal operations,
We want to convey our gratitude to the architects of this magnificent transformation.
Jim was the first to arrive, and his wise words inspired us,
That a space artfully designed could have an impact on our lives tremendous.
While Bruce alone would drink my coffee, and Paul steadily hammered,
Cyrus listened patiently to my nightmares of house fire and disaster.
But the beauty of watching the walls of our house raise from beneath their hands,
Would catch our breath and still our hearts, for a birth was occurring on our land.
We were forewarned when Harold arrived that the man who rides a Harley
Has a heart of gold, a twinkle in his eye, and pencil in his beard so gnarley.
At 6 AM he would arrive and work with grace and speed,
Filling the wounded empty space with form, color and . . . GE.
Rit and Tim and Dale were more often elsewhere than here,
Although their work contributed importantly to bringing completion near.
Of course time was spent waiting for molding and tile whose delivery was stuck,
But nothing was awaited as eagerly as Dale’s wonderful new blue truck.
Joe cut and shaped molding that frames our windows and doors
While his steady way and patience helped with worried relatives even more.
Dave and John threaded their magic through wires and pipes throughout,
We don’t flick a switch or wash a dish without honoring them with a grateful shout.
Alex joined the fun after we’d all gotten started,
Ordering glass and crown molding, and executing plans previously charted.
Cyrus saw to it that everything worked like clockwork,
So many pieces and people to juggle, but seldom revealing his effort.
Last on the scene was Dennis who like Michaelangelo worked his craft,
Leaving visitors who tried to find the seam in the wallpaper going daft.
Steve steered the ship through choppy waters from beginning to end,
Navigating the figures, knowing that to our budget they must bend.
Urgent Sunday calls were answered with quickness and calm,
Replacing heat, regrouting tile, and reassuring that construction would not forever go on.
Steve’s unflappable seriousness didn’t flinch for all my pokes,
We will continue to come up with future projects until Steve gives in and laughs at my jokes.
So for now, we bid you adieu, knowing that parting is bittersweet,
We will miss all of you, but budget willing, we trust it won’t be long ’til we meet.

– Lisa, New Haven
